Our Story
How it all began
In 2022, a handful of Canadian veteran clubs came together with one dream: to build a national stage where players aged 35 and over could still compete with pride, reconnect as brothers, and celebrate the game that shaped their lives. From that first gathering, the Canada National Veteran Tournament was born — a movement that now unites communities from coast to coast, one tournament every summer.

Who we are
CNVT Today
Who we are
The Canada National Veteran Tournament (CNVT) is a not-for-profit, member-driven football association that unites veteran players aged 35 and over from across Canada. Born in 2022 from a simple idea — that the game does not end when your knees turn 35 — CNVT has grown into a coast-to-coast community of clubs, families, volunteers and partners who share one motto: One Nation, One Game, One Legacy.
Our mission
CNVT exists to keep veteran footballers active, connected and proud. We organise a national tournament every summer, support the development of member clubs in their own cities, and use the game as a bridge between communities. Beyond the pitch, the federation champions health and wellbeing for mature athletes, mentorship of the next generation, and charitable giving through the CNVT Gives Back programme.
Our member clubs
Today CNVT counts 14 member clubs spread over Canada's major regions — from Halifax on the Atlantic, through Québec City, Montréal, Ottawa-Gatineau, Toronto, Hamilton and London in Central Canada, to Calgary, Edmonton and Grande Prairie in the West. Each club runs its own veteran programme year-round and sends its best squad to represent its city at the national finals. Clubs are full members of the federation: they vote at the general assembly, sit on committees and take turns hosting the tournament. Our goal is to reach 16 member clubs before January 2027 — two places remain, and new veteran clubs are invited to register as soon as possible.
The tournament
The CNVT national finals move to a new host city every year. Since the inaugural edition in Montréal in 2022, the tournament has been hosted in Calgary (2023), Toronto (2024), Québec City (2025) and Edmonton (2026), crowning champions such as Diversity FC, Goodwill FC, Camer SC and Hamilton Community Club. The 2027 edition returns to Montréal, hosted by Goodwillers FC, with all clubs competing in group stages followed by a knockout bracket, a third-place play-off and the final. Live scores, standings, fixtures and match events are published in real time in the CNVT app and on this website.
How we are governed
CNVT is led by an elected Executive Committee — President, Vice President, Secretary General, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer and Technical Lead — accountable to the member clubs at the annual general assembly. The Executive is supported by four standing committees: the Advisory Committee, the Sponsorship & Marketing Committee, the Technical Committee (competition rules, referees and match-day operations) and the Disciplinary Committee. Past executives remain part of the CNVT family and are honoured for the foundations they laid.
Beyond football
Every edition closes with the CNVT Gala — an awards night celebrating the champions, the Golden Boot, the best goalkeeper and the people who make the tournament possible. Through CNVT Gives Back, clubs and members raise funds and volunteer time for causes in their host communities. Our volunteers, sponsors and community partners are the backbone of everything we do, and every member club is encouraged to open its doors to new players, new families and new friendships.

President
Valeri Numbisi
Calgary, AB
Valeri Numbisi is a family-oriented father and spouse, a community advocate, and a visionary leader. Professionally, he serves as an Alberta Supports Coordinator with the Ministry of Assisted Living & Social Services, and sits on the AUPE Pay & Social Equity Committee. Having served as CNVT Treasurer for four years, and inspired by the vision to transform CNVT from an occasional event into a brand whose impact reverberates locally, nationally and internationally, Valeri ran for and was elected President. In collaboration with the National Executive Committee and the support of club representatives, his goal is to close the gap between leadership and the CNVT community; unlocking untapped potential for a more inclusive CNVT experience for all families. "It will not happen overnight, but we have a motivated team, and we believe." Away from CNVT duties, Valeri is devoted to his family, soccer, travel, and community advocacy and volunteering. "It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness." CNVT is home to a vast network of human capacity and expertise, and we are committed to unlocking these resources to create a lasting legacy for posterity.
